When you have live plants rooted in the pond the water won't be very clear. You can use a pump to filter it, just like in an indoor aquarium. Get the kind of animals that eat algea and like to clean up stuff. When you have live fish they will poop and that will make the water murky, but their poop will feed the plants. You have to kind of let Mother Nature take care of some of the tasks.
I have a 950 gallon pond in my backyard. I have large goldfish and two turtles in it, along with live plants. There is no easy quick fix to get the water really clean. I have homemade filtering system and still have to use water treatments (all natural, since my dogs like to drink from the pond) to keep it semi clear. The sun has a lot of influence on algee growth. But I still have to drain and brush the pond once a year. Hope this helps.
