Starch them. You are over thinking this, it is artistic to have the fringe flop over or hang down. To me it would be funny to have a stiff blanket hanging from the wall. Or at least that is how I see it. 🤔
I would hang it on a curtain rod with the fringe at the top making the rod pocket.

I hung a large flag using 2 strips of wood. One on the entire length of the top and one for the bottom. I used command strips to attach the wood to the flag.
It will hang best and be less distorted if you sew a backing material to it. Also, on the backside top - sew a strip of fabric to create a channel and hang with a rod.
You could manually sew large rings on one side and then hand on a decorative rod.
I would create a rod pocket behind it and hang it on a curtain rod. I think the weight of the fringe might still flop, but starch might help.
