you would need some type of adhesive to keep the tin on the ceiling - most of the ceiling kits come with the glue, adhesive, etc.
They have styrofoam ceiling tiles that have the appearance of the tin squares, they are on line and paint-able if desired.
Instead, maybe think about finding a “ceiling stencil” online. They’re cheap. Stencil/ paint your ceiling.
Because you can’t hang a ceiling without glue or at least double-face tape, which could be even harder to remove. And tacks would show.
