I have bamboo blinds. Love them.

I have always used pull-down window shades/blinds to keep out prying eyes and sunlight. They aren't expensive and can be custom cut at HD, Lows, Walmart your specifications. The blinds (when up) are hidden under a swag or valance as I don't like mini-blinds.

All my windows have horizontal wood or faux wood blinds. in all except Bedrooms and dining room have blinds and curtains.
