Using OSB for flooring??

I tore up the old vinyl flooring in my kids' bathroom because it was moldy and pulling up from the subfloor. I saw a few YouTube videos on people using OWN as flooring and thought I would try it. I am going to stain it but need to know what I can use to seal and waterproof it. I have thought about using an outdoor sealer with a glossy finish but I am not sure if it will be high maintenance. What could I do?

I wish you luck with your plan but my first choice for a high traffic bathroom would not be strand board. Moisture from above and below will shorten its life and it will flake (its original form). If budget is the issue try habitat-for humanity restore for plywood at a reduced price or any other letitgo site that may have someone selling leftover material. If the look is what you like a paper bag treatment can be added. You will then have a durable floor for your family to use. I would go to my big box hardware and describe my project and get a recommendation for top coat from the paint dept. Hope this helps

I agree with Linda. OSB would not make good flooring for a bathroom. Vinyl tiles, vinyl planks, sheet vinyl would work great. Paper bag treatment would look great. To seal it use at least three coats of a water based polyurethane. Doesn't yellow over time.

What is OWN flooring? never heard of it? If you are talking about OSB, not a good choice for a wet environment but I would use marine epoxy to seal it.
