Repainting wicker furniture

Do I need to use primer when repainting the wicker furniture on my front porch? Is there a special kind of paint that is better to use than others?

Primer is helpful because wicker is full of books and cranies
spray paint works great and several coats are recommended
You can spray paint the furniture with Rustoleum 2X for wicker, applying two light coats allowing each to dry in between then seal with a clear UV sealer for protection
Rustoleum or Krylon are both good. Primer might be necessary if going from dark to light.... would just help with coverage
