If you get some tiki thatch, you should be able to attach it yourself https://www.tikishackimporter.com/tiki-thatch-guide.html
Shoshana is right. But if you do choose a wooden roof, I would make sure your supports could hold it. Good luck!
You could buy beach mats ( from Dollar Store or Walmart),and attach for a cheap and fast replace. For a wood roof you could use cedar shingles.
save the vinegar, use less soap, and never put fabric softener in towels, they won't absorb the water as well.
Get reed matting or reed fencing to cover the damaged roof to continue with the same look. If you want to use wood, make sure the supports are reinforced.
Shoshana's idea is good.
We're building a tiki bar now. We used corrugated metal on the roof.
