Durability of marble countertops in a bathroom?

by Laura
I’d love to replace our old tile counter with vessel sinks and marble countertops in the master bath, but I’m concerned about staining, sealing, maintenance, etc. I’d rather not use a synthetic product. Will marble hold up? Adults only in the household.

In the bathroom maintenance of marble is a little less ominous than in the kitchen. Use a cleaner and polish specified for marble and you'll be fine (unless, of course, you drink a lot of red wine at the basins...) Sounds like it'll be a lovely room. Good luck.

Not unless you have the money to buy really nice expensive Italian marble. Unless using white marble, it does not do well in wet areas. It spots, stains and gets dull. Check out quartz. The look and durability it outstanding.

Marble is a softer stone.... consider getting a Quartz counter top that looks like marble.... virtually maintenance free and not susceptible to soaps and other chemicals that can deteriorate marble.

Considering that it is in a bathroom.... you might be able to find a remnant.... most stone yards have them at a greatly reduced cost.... I saw one of the DIY guys on TV use a Black quartz , marble look alike, in a bathroom that was stunning.
