What to use to protect an item from the weather

I created a turtle using a hard hat, plastic ladle and plastic cups that were originally used for coloring Easter eggs. I painted the hard hat to look like the shell of a turtle also painted the ladle so now I need to figure out what to cover it to protect from the outside elements.

a good marine varnish should do it, be sure you include the bottoms that will touch the ground.
Well, it's all plastic so it's pretty protected, but if you want to add another layer, use a spray sealer that adheres to plastic. There's usually satin or high gloss. That, you'll have to decide on your own. Oh, and please submit a picture. Would love to see your new pet!
