Do they look like bumblebees ? They are probably boring bees .they drill holes in wood to build a nest we had them also .had to fill the holes up with caulking so they would move on .they can destroy a deck . We get them every year .Good luck .
Call a bee keeper. They have the means to safely corral them. And all the protective equipment.
Remove the nest they had last year, and you remove the bees. Google a beekeeper in your area. Such as beekeepers in Jones Beach, Florida. Once it's removed, they won't come back again. We had wasps, found the nest under the shutters. My husband sprayed, and removed it in the winter, gone.
I use Sevin in the powder form. This sounds crazy, but I use the syringe part of a meat injector (no longer used for meat!!), filled with Sevin, then I shoot it up into the holes. I've also read that citrus oil works, sprayed into the hole.
