Something like a epoxy or rosin that is self leveling.

glass tiles are usually thinner, you can also do hammered copper, brushed aluminum, leather, get a piece of glass and do a mercury glass treatment on the back.
How about a piece of glass or mirror cut to size of the table top? Or do a Unicorn Spit technique on the top of the damaged top,?
How about self stick vinyl tile or vinyl planks. Look like stone or wood. Easy to cut and install. And they are thin.
Paint is also an option and fairly easy to do. You could stencil it or distress it or one of a gazillion different paint treatments that match your taste. One I like is a solid paint color with a decoupaged table top.
