Leticia, I found a lot of great information on your issue using Google. First it depends on what kind of grass you have. From there you can check out at least 10 websites that address your issue. Rick Allen
This will not be easy to do in Florence area and will require a great deal of maintenance and extra cost in water.
Although AZ is not a designated drought state yet, it may be in the near future. Not only will the cost of water usage increase, but if the state declares Water Restriction zones, then water usage for certain purposes (lawns, car washing in the driveway, etc.) might be banned simply due to lack of water availability. Many areas across North America have had several summers already with water usage restrictions being strictly enforced.
I would advise you not invest a great deal of money at this point in time trying to cultivate a green lawn.
I encourage you instead to learn more about xeriscaping alternitives.
Get rid of the grass. watering a lawn in AZ is a huge waste of a precious natural resource. Put some low maintenance desert friendly plants in and use rocks to fill in. If you must have the look of grass then there are newer very realistic looking fake gras lawns out there.
