Fill the jar with glass beads from the Dollar Store or some sand. You could also use some coffee beans for a good smell!
Hi Patricia. You could cut a piece of rice paper to go into the glass, or fill it with moss and then add little battery operated lights.

Slide a Styrofoam disc into the top of the jar where it will be hidden by the rope wrapped horizontally. Then just trim your stems.
Dried moss (brown or tan) I would remove the arrangement first place in your moss then return your arrangement (watch the bottom of the stems as you place your flowers so they stay hiden)
mercury glass technique would look wonderful
You could fill it with clear resin as it gives the look of water. The only draw back is it dries fast and once you set your flowers it's there for good.

You could just wrap a piece of burlap inside the jar then replace the flowers inside the burlap. The burlap will match nicely with the rope on the jar and will hide the stems.

I don't know what you decided to do, but I think "Aspidistra Floral Ribbon" or Fruit would work really well.
