- Ebbjdlon Jun 4, 2018Try Murphys Oil Soap, dry completely, and then buff with a clean rag. This can be purchased at the supermarket.HelpfulReply
- Cherylon Jun 4, 2018I made a solution of bleach and water and wiped the paneling down with it. You'll have to play with how much bleach to get the right amount. I did it behind the bar, in my family room. Let it dry out, for a couple days. Then, apply a hefty coat or 2 of wood wax.HelpfulReply
- Raeon Jun 4, 2018I have painted all my outdated paneling that is in my basement and love it. So bright and clean now!HelpfulReply
- Williamon Jun 5, 2018Nothing much you can do to lighten it. The finish is put on at the factory. Most paneling is not real wood grain. The substrate can be wood, MDF, hardboard, and even particle board. The actual surface you see can be a photo of wood, wood grain paper, or vinyl. Most people just paint it.HelpfulReply
