I need suggestions for shower doors besides a shower curtain.

Our shower door fell off last week (the original 80's) so the master bath has been bumped to the head of our list. Nothing has been updated in this house since it was built and everything is on the list! The stall has lost it's finish so the whole thing has to be replaced. I want to tile around the new base when we get it. I can lay tile, but have never cut any. I know I have to put up the cement backer board but do I need to do anything else before tiling the walls? We weren't planning to do this now so I'm looking for inexpensive ways to get around buying new shower doors besides the good old shower curtain. There's just nothing to salvage from the old ones except the glass panels. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A glass brick wall can be built to contain the spray if your shower opening is large enough.
