Mounting a Pansy Crochet Doily- what's the best way to do this?

I recently found a round wood frame and want to mount this piece my mother made years ago so that it can be passed down to my grandchildren. I bought a piece of mounting board but I’m not sure what the best way is to do this.

There might be several options on how to do this.

You could use some decorative glass tipped short length pins to mount it to your board or I would consider using the acid-free double-sided tape that the frame shops use or scrapbookers use. The tape should not harm your crocheted doily being acid-free in nature.

In my framing experience sometimes just the pressure of the glass + your item sandwich tightly next to the mat board is usually enough to hold it in place but a piece of acid free tape might be helpful assurance to safely secure it.

I would suggest a piece of foam core poster board... you can cover it in fabric if you wish.... then use a long needle with a large eye... and some crochet thread that matches the piece you want to mount.... then just "SEW" the doily onto the backing... and put in a deep display frame to protect it from dust..... you might even be able to put LED strips inside the frame to really help it shine

When my BFF who owned a frame shop for over 40 years had a fabric item to frame she always attached it by the top of the item by stitching it to a fabric background.
