If it is sunny out, the water could cause sunburn on the leaves. It is best to water in the morning so that they have a chance to dry off before the strong sun hits the wet leaves. The other way would be to install a soaker hose or drip system and the leaves would not get wet. I use soaker hoses on my veggie garden as it is at the top of two steep hilled tiers and I can just turn the water on at the house without having to make trips up the hills.
Yes. So try to water the plant with a spouted watering can and not one that sprays the whole plant. Water it close to the stem by the earth.
I water my strawberries on the leaves and been doing it for years with no issue. But you need to water morning or evening, when the temperatures are lower to avoid sunburns on the leaves. This will also help the plants retain more water. Alternatively you could install a dripping system with a timer, which will save you time. Also adding mulch to the soil helps retain moisture so you won't need to water that often.
