How do I grow squash in north West Florida

I have been trying for years to get squash to grow but something is sucking them dry. I read if you keep them inside until they bloom then plant them the bug that is doing the damage has already done their damage and you don't have to worry about it. But what ever the bug is it got into the house and my seedlings are gone. How do I stop this from happening.

Try planting them in a new pot with new dirt, there maybe something living in your existing soil that is a host to the bugs that are destroying your squash.
That would be my first step to solving this. Next would be to get an insecticide like Seven and lightly dust.

You probably have squash bugs. They tap into the stems and suck the life out of the plant. You need to kill the squash bugs. Keeping the plants inside is not necessary. JUst rotate all crops yearly in your garden.
