Have a budget. Have a plan. Hire a good contractor if not doing yourself. Be able to make decisions quickly. Things happen, plans change, costs can escalate overnight. Be able to go with the flow. Hire a designer if need be. Know the entire house will be a mess during construction, if you are not good with that, stay elsewhere. Enjoy the process, because it is fun and know you will have the kitchen of your dreams once completed.
