I had a garden at the last house we had, and we never saw them but a couple of guys that lived in the third floor of the apartment building next to the house overlooked my garden and they saw one climbing my little fence. They took all there vegetable peelings and leftover veggies and put them out away from the garden and they quit getting into the garden. They did this until they no longer saw them coming around the veggie garden. I did not know about this until it was said and done and they told me at that time. Needless to say, they had all the ripe fresh veggies they wanted. Perhaps you could try something like this.
Hi Mary, You could spread some shredded Irish Spring bars of soap around your plants. You can shred the bars on a box grater or even in a food processor. Animals hate the smell and taste. It's the only thing that has worked for me and I live next to woods and a river. I hope you find this info helpful. Good luck.
