Yep spent years trimming them all along my fence line to keep out of my yard. They do make a really strong blackberry poison, just make sure not to use within 8' of a tree or shrub you want to keep.
providing there are no other plants involved, cut them all the way down and use white vinegar and water with a dab of salt or use a total vegetation killer
I just sprayed with chemical called kills anything but grass. can t remember name but got at feed stores
