I am trying to knock down a kitchen wall it is a outside wall what kind of beam do I use for a 7 ft wall

    Since it is a load bearing wall - it holds up the roof, please let a professional do this.

    I agree with Sal this is not something that should be done by someone without at least consulting a structural engineer

    I will be honest, you should NOT attempt to knock 'any-wall' down unless, your a builder...That is asking for trouble big time.

    We had a "free estimate" professional come to the house and he made the decision as of whether the wall we wanted taken down was a load bearing wall or not. Fortunately it was not and down it came, but we had to deal with the electrical wires.

    Outside walls are load bearing, bring in a contractor.
