Start with nail polish remover. Pour some remover in the cap. Take a Q-tip, and dab it in the cap. Lightly run the Q-tip over a small area of the carpet. Wipe with a paper towel. Keep doing this until it looks much lighter. Spray with alcohol lightly, and wipe with a rag. This should get it pretty clean. Next, spray with Resolve carpet cleaner, follow the directions on the can.
Peroxide worked for me on beige carpet but it was red polish. The nail polish remover idea did not work for me at all.
