I have a 3-shelf cupboard over my washer and dryer. Because the machines are so deep, I need a step stool to reach anything. Keep that in mind when you build the shelves. I do have my machines on pedestals which makes it worse to reach anything. A closet or pantry beside the machines is ideal.....I have one of those also..
