How to remove old melted wax from fireplace mantle front?

There are grooves in the front of the mantle and a section of about 24-30 inches have old melted candle wax. so Now that section is dark and looks horrible.

    Try heating it up with a blow dryer or heat gun, then get some pop sicle sticks or kabob sticks and drag them along the creases and see if that doesn't get some of the wax out.

    Gently remove what you can with plastic putty knife then use your iron and lots of paper towels to remove the rest. I removed red wax from a velvety sofa many years ago and it got all of it off. Saved my sofa from the trash heap. By the way it was a beige velvet.

    You can scrape it off with an exacto knife
