Hi Flor, I suggest removing ALL the items you want to organize and pile them onto your bed or onto the floor. Buy a bunch of matching hangers for the clothes you wish to hang. Go through the clothes and arrange them by garment, sorting sleeveless, short sleeves, long sleeve tops and hang them up, then sort each of these categories by color starting with white, then similar colors, then black. Do this with all your tops, then do the same process with you slacks/pants. If you have dresses, do the same process. For underwear, pajamas, etc. just sort like with like. I just lay my underwear flat in different drawers but it will depend on how much space you have. This saves me time not having to fold those items after they are laundered. In another house, I rolled up the panties and placed them in a drawer along with bras that were folded into quarters because of the size of those drawers. Hope this helps you get inspired to start....that's the hardest part!
Just an idea - I split my hanging closet into 4 sections (two rows of hanging horizontal racks) one side of rows, long sleeve tops on top row, short sleeves on bottom. On the other side of racks, dress pants on top row, casuals on bottom rack. The key - use a coloured hanger in each section. As you wash, wear and return each item, place it on the OTHER side of the coloured hanger. At the end of a season, whatever remains on the original side - you have not been wearing, so decide to donate to keep the closet under control
I go through my side of the closet & my dresser twice a year, if it doesn't fit I donate it, I have donated clothes with the tags still on them. My side of the closet was so stuffed clothes were getting crushed and hard to find anything. Try and do your closet first, I suggest in the morning, then take a break or two, when this is done you have gotten one of your organizations done! When you do your closet, I found some velvet hangers that are great
that are great, I found them at the Dollar Store.
I need to clean the kitchen cabinets & drawers out, probably tomorrow-Sunday. When I clean out my cabinets and drawers I will clean them out and re-line them with a rubber liner, you can get that at your home Center also.

Good advice!
