i grew to hate the one i had, kept hitting my head on it.
Hi Carol,
Many people do have their microwave over their stovetop, and that is their preference. I don't mean to discourage you, but there are many burn victims from just such a set up, from either leaning over the stove to put in or remove food. The chance for spillage increases when you have this arrangement, either from the contents of the microwave heated food or from the pots and pans on the stove top.
it is good there is a guide for this project and I hope it is a help. For me safety first.
Best to you.
Suzette gave you a fantastic link! If you are short, it might not be convenient or even dangerous. I am tall, with back issues and e v e r y t h I n g is too low for me, so over the stove / range is perfect!!! Just consider the actual users in your household.
Hi Carol.... 13-16 inches is too low.... you would not be able to put a spaghetti pot under there let alone stir it.....and high heat would melt the bottom of the microwave
install it high enough that you can work under it and low enough that you don't have to climb on a step stool to put stuff in or get hot stuff out of the microwave... and somewhere in the installation instructions there should be a recommended minimum distance.... If you are very short...and using a microwave over the stove would be hard for you to reach safely.... find another place to put it
