Put a half cup of Arm & Hammer soda in the washing machine with the towels and detergent.
My towels get a musty smell sometimes, so I rinse them in vinegar then wash them and the problem is solved. I usually use about a cup for the washer load.
Hi Neomi,
I add about 1/2 cup of baking soda to my water if this happens. Sometimes it's just because I left the wash in the washer over night so I just run the rinse cycle with the baking soda. If they haven't been washed though, I use the baking soda with my regular detergent to boost it's power. I hope that helps you. Wishing you the best.
I'll toss the towels in on warm or hot and use only vinegar. Clears any stink up.
Hi Noemi,
It does sound as if you have mildew odors, this can come from several sources. Either the bacteria is not being killed when washing, you may have to increase the water temperature for that. Make sure you are using the right amount of detergent for your loads, too little will not clean the clothes and kill the bacteria or mildew. You can also try a combination of baking soda and vinegar to clean and disinfect your laundry minus the detergent.
When it comes to drying them, be certain they are completely dry before you put them away.
From experience we have learned that we need to keep the door of the washer open when not in use, this helps prevent washer odor from happening.
