Hi, Mia: if they are just decorative brass pieces and not valuable antiques, try lemon juice and salt. It works for copper.
Use Brasso.
Don't use Brasso or any polish. It removes some of the metal. Use a white (not gel) toothpaste and a damp cloth. For hard to reach areas use a damp toothbrush. A dab of toothpaste on the cloth or toothbrush.
you could always paint or decoupage over them -- if they are merely brass coated... and can't be brought back to life.
