Sounds like it needs to be replaced. Is there a leak on the roof?

i don’t have a leak but the bathroom gets used alot to take hot showers and it gets steamy inside. I don’t have light that has the fan/vent built in like most bathrooms have. It’s downstairs and the only area above the light is the subfloor for the upstairs. Thanks

they make a product in the Spackle/paint dept that stretches so the crack doesn't reappear, it comes in a tube/can and is paintable, just fill the crack with it and let it dry. it's called "good bye cracks" of all things lol

Jennifer, the crack is not forming in your paint, but rather in the drywall. It is caused by shifting and settling of the foundation or possibly a structural member has failed. If it's just settling, then follow Joann's suggestion. If you have squishy floors above it or some other red flag, then you need skilled structural help.

I may have to try the good bye cracks. I have tried to re-mud and sand the ceiling then paint and it looks great for a little while then the cracks began to appear agai. Thanks

Sorry wrong answer, We just did the cracked bathroom ceiling, Our was the fine cracks, spider cracks all over from to much moister. We had to skim coat the whole thing. We dont have a fan either but now leave the door a crack open when showering.
