How to paint this metal light?

Give it a good wipe down with a degreaser (I like Mean Green, it’s cheap and works great), scuff with a green scrubby or light steel wool, dust off then select a spray paint for metal. Or use a metal spray primer and a color of your choice. I’ve updated light fixtures, door and cabinet knobs...this way. Have fun.

I agree clean it and then spray paint light coats to avoid drips.

I have spray painted a few metal lamps - turned out great.
