A lot of clear coats can change the look of the finish/yellow over time. For a kitchen, where there might be moisture and/or cleaning involved you might want to consider a marine polyurethane.
Minwax polyurethane.
Take one of the cabinet doors to the paint department of the home improvement store and ask for their advice on paint, stain, and application tools for the most professional finish.,
