Easy fix for preventing break-ins on sidelight windows?
Our New House has a Beautiful Front Door but with 7 in wide, 64in long sidelight windows on either side of it...what can we use that would prevent someone from breaking the glass and turning the lock to walk in? Privacy curtains and such would look nice BUT would not prevent a break-in NEED HELP!!!

Hi, a large dog. That glass is pretty thick. It would take a lot to break it. But if it makes you uneasy, have two wrought iron gates built to go over them. You could have them made airy and light to add to the beauty of your new home. Good luck.
You can put up a series of metal products, but make sure there is not enough room for a hand to go through and open the door. Whatever you chose, it is only as strong as the strength and length of the screws attaching it. 1" screws will not add much deterrent, can easily be kicked out.
I would look into some shatter resistant materials such as polycarbon or lexan. here is a link FYI...
