What are your patio table and chairs made from? If metal, use Rustoleum Spray paint for metal. If wood you might have to do some prep work before you paint-perhaps some sanding and primer. I have discovered that if you paint wood patio furniture with exterior house paint it will weather much better.
Hi Carla! The type of paint we'd advise you to use depends on what the patio table and chairs are constructed of.....wood or metal? Buy paint that says it is for use on those types of surfaces and you'll be fine....also, check to insure it says for exterior surfaces or else use a good outdoor clear sealant.
Great! What type of surface is your patio furniture? Plastic? Metal? Wood? Paint is formulated by the surface it will be covering. If you use the wrong formula, the paint will fail and you will be dissappointed. Same rules apply as when painting anything else, wash, dry, prime, then paint.
What are the chairs and table made out of? Wood, metal, plastic?
clean them really ell so the paint doesn't come off.
Hi Carla!
I painted a mesh type metal furniture a few years ago and I used to spray paint. I prepped and cleaned the set carefully— sanded it away any loose finish or rust and then used a Rustoleum spray paint —it has always been my favorite choice for professional results. The rustoleum spray paint often has primer and paint combined in one. The universal series has an excellent designed applicator- easy to use top spray nozzle that can operate in any angle.
The before and after was a remarkable accomplishment. I like the oil rubbed bronze finish much better than the white finish. Best wishes with your patio furniture rehab!

HI Carla! Thanks for letting us know the areas you want to paint are metal. I have used Rustoleum paint on metal it is does hold up very well. I used alcohol and water to clean off the surface before I painted because the alcohol evaporates rather quickly. Do two or three light coats with at least 1/2 hour in between so you get good even coverage with no runs. It is easy to think you can just keep spraying, but you'll have a much better look if you take the time to do the thin coats. Why not show a pic of the before and after so everyone can see the results? We love to see projects completed!
