Custom island in kitchen- what's the best way to start?
Wanting to build a custom movable island for kitchen that we can store under some shelves when not in use. Not sure how to go about it! Was considering using an old cabinet (from the kitchen) but thinking it may be too heavy and too low. What would be the best way to start and what materials should the base of it be? I know we want to put butches block on top to match the countertops

You can make a small island out of a small bookcase. Put a piece of wood same size as the bottom shelve on the bottom screw in so you can add casters to the bottom. You can put a board on the top if you want to longer or wider. It’s nice to put a butcher block on the top board so you can cut on it. You can add cup hooks, towel holder & small baskets to the sides. Paint it all a color that go’s with the decor in the kitchen.
