Hi! Your chairs are so colorful and beautiful! To insure the paint doesn't smear a good clear sealant can be purchased at any home improvement store. You can select either matte or glossy. I'd suggest at least two coats of it to insure it is well covered as it's difficult to see where you've applied it.
Hey...Lowe's has a Minwax fast drying polyurethane spray
Hi! If the craft paint is well dried, and you are careful applying it, try it on one area. I have used brush on sealer over craft paint without a problem, but, your designs are more colorful and detailed than anything I've tried, so try it on an area that's less visible.
I spray my outdoor ceramics with a clear acrylic sealer called Mod Podge available at Walmart in the craft department. It keeps the paint from peeling or fading so it will probably work well on your chairs.
Minwax gloss water base polyurethane. Drys fast easy clean up.
Great addition to a classroom! There are several clear protectant sprays. I got mine at Lowes

Polycrylic. Not the same as polyurethane which may discolor as it ages.
Minwax makes a spray polycrylic. Runs about $10 on Amazon today.
Water based, too!
