Hi, Susan: I personally prefer glass and have used old windows to build a small greenhouse! However, there are kits with vinyl and plastic which are easy to erect. So, I think it probably makes no difference to the plants! Have fun and grow some stuff.
I personally would use glass

Here are some ideas for you ! good luck
it depends largely on the type of weather you have. If it is blustery, stormy - I would use glass. The problem with vinyl is that it probably yellows with time and that will eventually cut down the amount of sunlight. Plastic is a temporary- I would go for glass.
Clear plastic sheeting. Try for .08 mil. or thicker. It comes in rolls.
