After preparing your area, lay sand down. Using a level you can see if the area is level.
After removing the grass and gigging down the height of the pavers and three more inches. Tamp the soil down. Add three inches of sand and level with a long board using a level on the board. Then lay your pavers. Add extra sand for any low spots.
