I once used hot glue to make a Christmas tree out of pine cones. It worked great and the tree looked fabulous . .. until . . I put it in my storage shed . . and it melted to nothing durning the summer.
Trying to glue pinecones to a smooth surface such as a styrofoam wreath form can be very frustrating. First, glue a textured non-flat covering such as faux moss, raffia, burlap, folded ribbon, etc.onto the styrofoam. This will establish a more 3D surface for the pinecones to grip on to and nestle into.
