I have a small bathroom that is in dire need of a makeover.
Not a lot of money. My bathtub\shower combo is brand new, but the walls are covered with painted cheap paneling & the floors are hideous. This part of the house was built in 1942. I already have a new vanity & sink. Any ideas for the walls & floor that won’t cost a ton of money? Thank you in advance.

Hey Bonnie. I think paint. Paint the walls, and you can even paint the floor. Here are some links to check out.

Ok post just disappear...you could probably use a Lino remnant or peel and stick tiles for the floor. Take the toilet out, get new wax rings, and run the Lino under the new toilet. Btw...I have that same Lino in my kitchen....and I feel the same way you do....yuck.
Well,I am curious as to what ideas YOU have? 😉However..inexpensive.....stick on floor tiles,or paint floor. Do walls in a bead board or faux shiplap, and paint. Definitely paint the vanity...and even the countertop. Aha I read too fast. You already have a new vanity..good! We put vinyl planking on the bathroom floor..looks like wood. Small bathroom, not expensive, yup I would go for a shiplap or beadboard look,if you cant stand the walls repainted. Be sure to show us what you do! 🤗. Are you getting a new toilet? We were blown away by the companies and varieties. We still made a mistake after much info gathering. We got the oblong instead of round. Well,no way to be delicate here, solids drop usually above the water line..and sort of stay there until after several flushes. 😝Which defeats the new water saver ideas! Just saying! 😙ps edit..hubs put a shelf across the toilet tank end to end, that removes when needed. Much needed.
If you're physically capable, remove the paneling and flooring. Check sub floor to make sure no leaks have occurred (you're dealing with 1942 plumbing, which could be cast iron and copper-the two metals don't play well, together and can corrode, over time, leaving pin holes and slight cracks in the piping).
You can find very inexpensive tile at home stores, Habitat for Humanity resale stores, Craig's List, tiling stores looking to sell off their discontinued tiles, etc.
Prime, then paint the walls using a bath paint with built in mildewcide, in satin or gloss finish, for ease of cleaning.
I would remove the paneling, patch the green board and paint a nice light color. Don't forget to remove, replace (after flooring) and paint the baseboard, too. As for the floor, you don't need that much so you could shop for tile flooring on clearance. They put it on clearance when they only have just a small amount. Just make sure all of the dye lots are the same. You can take a class at home depot or lowes on how to tile. Then, remove the toilet and get rid of that linoleum. The vanity also goes on top of your new floor. While you have everything open, now would be a good time to check the walls and subfloor for rot and mold from past leaks. You could also get new fixtures for the bathroom (pulls for vanity, towel bar, toilet paper holder, etc). Shop online for really good prices.
Shore grandmom, thank you. The sub flooring is ok, so getting rid of the yucky tile is a definite option. As for the paneling, it has GOT to go! It is peeling in places. Your input is very helpful.
