Can you reuse the filtering particles of a zero water filter?

I have saved all my zero water pitcher cartridges, cut them open and emptied out the carbon and other particles from the filters and have them stored in a bucket. Is there any way to disinfect/clean/other in order for me to put them in a container or strainer, etc. and reuse these filtering items. I know it may not be as clean as the original, but using 15+ filters, I have quite a lot of "particles" and would think in an emergency situation, could come in handy. I would not mind using coffee filters and other items in conjunction, and even thought about putting them in plant containers to help filter out bad stuff for especially herbs and vegs. Opens up a lot of possibilities, I know. Tell me to take a hike (I can use the exercise) if not doable.

  • I'd pass personally since you don't know what kind of contamination is in there

I would use them to filter rainwater to use in the garden or in house plants. Rainwater that comes off your roof may have shingle gravel and all kinds of smog-related particles. I would use a large mesh strainer, not a spaghetti strainer that has larger holes. Best wishes ☺️

  • Recycle bin! Who knows how contaminated the contents are now.

Hey, Why do you think so? Because, I think that you can find some of the best filters everywhere. By the way, since I have some experience with filters , I think you can find a way to change your filter using a filter that can improve your time of using it, like "AQUA TRU countertop water filtration" and "Express Water reverse osmosis filter" that can help you with smart buying system. By the way, I did an order from the Amazon since this source can provide a good quality of shipping and price which I am very happy about. Oh I forgot to mention the article the article " Pure Water Guide" that helped me with that.
