Durability is dependant on how gentle or rough your family is on things. Heat resistant it is not. You must always use a trivit or cutting board of some sort.
I think you would want to use trivets or something if placing hot items on it, I do even with my original counters. I know a few people who used the Rustoleum kits and are happy with their results but I haven't heard any comments about heat issues.
Don't do it. I used this stuff and it literally comes off with orange juice and lemon juice. Found that out the hard way
