How to make reusable hurricane panels?

After last years hurricane season, I looked into buying panels, but after seeing the outrageous prices I decided to do it myself. Looking at using plywood or better. And also adding pre drilled holes to make it easier to install.

You could use plywood and perhaps make a frame around it and drill the holes necessary to install them when needed. Perhaps you could put a handle or two on each panel to make them easier to place. You could use marine plywood for the panels, but it is not cheap, but would last you for years to come since it is made to withstand weather of any kind. It isn't a bad idea to have reusable panels, you will always have them available when they are needed, hopefully they won't, but you never know for sure. A person should always be ready for what nature throws at you.

My husband uses Polycarbonate, it worked great and since it was clear we could see what was going on outside, and I didn't feel all shut -in. 1st photo is outside and 2nd photo is from inside looking out. We store ours in the carport, big tip label the windows which plastic sheet and which boards, then second time isn't so hard, putting them up.
