How do I refresh a large metal A/C return vent grille ? 25 x 20
This is old, dirty, and kinda rusty.... It is attached to the vent space by 2 hinges at the bottom (so it can be opened to replace the air filter) and I'm not sure about getting it back on, if I removed it to paint it. Any creative ideas? Thank you so much!

Hi there, they make specific paints just for metal. I would recommend Rustoleum - it comes in lots of colors and dries to a really tough smooth finish. If you can't spray it you could always do several like coats with a brush and see how it goes. First though just clean it REALLY well and get as much rust off of it as you can.
clean it well get rust off and spay paint it
clean it as best you can with a cleaning solution in a spray bottle and a brush. Then treat it to a rust inhibiting primer and paint. I’m sure you’ve seen Rustoleum mentioned in these chats.. it comes in any colors, several light coats with dry time between the will do better than 1 thicker one...less drips or smearing.
Hi, I just want to say thank you for your replies and help! I will tackle this when the weather is a little cooler here in Houston and I can have some doors and windows open for ventilation. Can't wait to make it look better!
