People with orchards use a netting over trees. Check with nursery or home supply.
My parents would use the tin can insert cut off soup cans. They punched a hole and hung them like ornaments. With today's crafts, anything sparkly that will spin or dangle will distract birds. You know that person in your neighborhood that has CD discs hanging in trees or bushes might be doing the same thing. Birds do LOVE figs!
Denise I have peach trees and have the same issue. in spring when flowering I purchase bird netting from either place (Home Depot, or Lowes) I have to have help throwing the net over the tree. Bundle up the bottom edge (around the trunk) use small zip ties to secure.
You may get a few little limbs that grow thru the net. don't worry.
my peaches are ready the first week of May. No Birds.
Note I do keep my peach tree trimmed not to get so high I cannot toss the net. been doing this for years. Best of luck
