How do I decorate this wall?
Notice in the picture, the window is not even on the wall. The left side is smaller. Also, I don't care for window treatments. I was thinking built in bookcases of some sort around it. What are some other ideas? Thanks!

That would make a nice bench seat for sitting under your window. Might wanna see if you can make some kind of storage under the bench as well. Declutter all the stuff sitting on top, maybe a nice valance on the window. There is just too much going on in the corners. you could put some of those pictures on the wall, just stagger them and that would perhaps take away the distance on each side.
use a frosted film cling product on the glass; you would still get natural light - then build your shelves from completely across the entire wall .. from corner to corner ... that will distract the eye from the window not being 'centered' ... take into consideration that shelf under the window -- you will have to lean across that in order to reach item on the shelves ... I can't tell how 'deep' that shelf is, but you don't want to not be able to reach /use what you put on the shelves ..
Well you asked....so this is my take. You have a lot going on in that area. If you want a new change maybe look painting the wall a 'off white'. Your window is white, and that would make the room much bigger. A nice blind would be great, and maybe just put a few things in that area.
If you like the blinds and don’t want to paint, you can change the sheets to another color. The window is the natural focal point of the room, so it’s color will affect all the other elements. What is this room used for? Best wishes ☺️
I would remove all the stuff. Make a cushion the length of the bench. Take the blinds down and put a frosted film on the windows. Then touching the ceiling, but a ceiling to bench top sheer up. This would make the window off center and spacing totally blend. Sheets can be pulled back or left to float in the breeze from the window. Good luck. Would like to see the remake.
Okay. Everyone is right here, the blinds have to go. With the wall colors you have, some shade of green for curtains will work best, with tie backs. Sheers can be added, if you don't want to let in the sun . 2 small book cases, to be built for either side of the window, and paint them the color of your new curtains. The top of the book cases, should be the same height as the top trim on your window. By using these colors and dimensions, the eye will not pick up that the window id off center. When using your tie backs, center the division of the curtain, with the center of the room, not the center of the window. Every thing comes off of that window ledge.
Finally, replace the trim rings on the 2 recessed lights, to the eyeball trim, and aim toward the new bookcases. This is your "least expensive" way to make this room pop. All pictures on the other stand, should be matted and hung on the walls in matching frames, even if they are different sizes and economy frames. Try to use a mint green mat, with white for those.
I forgot to tell you to make both book cases the same, and extend the curtain rod to the right.
First I always paint the walls with with the window a darker color or different shade than the other walls, I would get drapes that tie back in the middle, the like you said either a book shelf, or assending shelves up the sides and across the top, and lighting also making the bench for underneath to sit on was a great idea

Wow!!!!!! Thank you everyone!!!! I'm definitely excited to do all that was suggested. Especially the window seat!! Thank you ALL so much for all of your suggestions. You've been a HUGE help!!
I like your idea of building shelving. Since the window isn't centered on the wall I think you could disguise that fact by painting everything on that wall the same color. To cover the window but to keep the light I think I would look into bottom up pleated shades. Raising the blinds half way would block any lookie-loos and still allow you to have daylight. If you have small children I would avoid the window seat idea, you don't want kids climbing up and sitting next to glass, or your new shades.
my front window is as large & on the side I have a bay window. My dad made me all wooden valances which I dress up with colorful scarfs or runners. On top of the valances there is enough room for me to put family photos size 5x7, this gets them off of tables. I would put some pretty pictures on either side of the windows. I have cats so I don’t want curtains, I do have mini blinds. I am also in the process of changing things up. Best wishes & good luck.
i agree with the decluttering. and if you don't like window treatments( i don't either) maybe plantation shutters or even mine blinds. and with windows that big a few large plants would set it off.
OK I see a lot of stuff, are you a collector....If so build shelves beside and over to top of the windows to display you collection better. I would also change the paint color to something with a little more bang.
