Depends upon your tolerance for the fumes, which can be quite noxious, and the time it takes them to dissapate. Some reglazing jobs don't last long, but can be costly. Research multiple websites and consumer reviews before you tackle this project.
Reglazing is considerably cheaper than replacing a tub, however, if there are any cracks in the tub, skip reglazing and just replace it because those cracks will reappear. Metal tubs are recoated with a porcelain which is as durable as the original tub. You can even change the color if desired. If you have a fiberglass tub, they use a type of paint which usually doesn't hold up for long. Make sure you get 3 estimates before you decide on a contractor. I have found that these bathtub replacement companies are extremely expensive for what they do and you end up hiring another contractor to do other work if you aren't using the same plumbing fixtures.
