How to remove wall paper border that was painted over?
At one time someone put wallpaper border around the middle of the bathroom walls. Later, that same someone decided to paint over that border rather than remove it before repainting that very small, pitiful little bathroom. How can I remove the border before repainting and brightening things up? Thank for any ideas.

Try scraping it with a putty knife, cut the paint with a wallpaper tiger, then soak with wallpaper remover in hot water.
Hi Leslie! Grrr! About all you can do at this point is to get a "scoring" tool which is a palm-sized tool with sharp teeth that you rub onto the surface areas you're wanting to remove the paper from. Score that area well, spray on a solution of a bit of liquid fabric softener and hot water and wait a few minutes and try to find a "weak" spot to scrape off. It may be a tedious job, but you'll do it right and enjoy the results. It may come off the wall in various size pieces. :)
Citrus paint stripper. You can use it indoors, smells clean. It’ll loosen the wallpaper and get the paint off. Just brush over the area, wait thirty minutes and scrape off with a putty knife. Or use a heat gun. Working simultaneously with putty knife heat up the border surface and get under the border with a putty knife. Sometimes, you get a good run going and it’ll all peel off.
you'll have to go thru the horrible wall-paper removal process. sorry. Strip it, then steam it or use chems… GOOD LUCK -- Have you thought about covering it with wainscot or just a strip of wood like a railing?
Might be easier!
Oh, that's a great idea, too! I didn't know there was a citrus paint remover now and was concerned about fumes. I'm "differently abled" and on oxygen so I have to be real careful. Thanks so much for your help,Wen21864072.
Leslie, you might want to use a box cutter or carpet knife to cut along the edges of the wallpaper. Then try scraping it off with a putty knife and using a steamer or hairdryer to loosen the glue. Good luck on this project.
