What is it made out of?
Hi Michelle, The directions on the can will tell you what materials it can be used on without damage. Be sure to read them before you take someone else's word.
Yes you can. I recommend Helmsman. May not provide full protection but will slow down the rusting.
Hello Michelle! Spar Urethane should be fine with a few tips. Try to take apart your bird feeders and get as much of the rust off as you can. Clean it throughly and let it dry completely. Cover your feeders with three coats. Let them cure in a cool dry area. Don't use too much for each layer. You definitely don't want corners or
small crevices to be gummy.
Spar Urethane is made for this kind of project. To quote a tip from it....."The recommended items spar urethane can be used on are: boats, outdoor furniture, doors, bathroom and kitchen cabinets, kitchen counter tops and windows. It is not recommended to use spar urethane on interior wooden floors."
If it's ok for kitchen counters and cabinets, it should be fine for a bird feeder. Good luck! Come back and tell us how it worked!
Thanks all. I mean not sure what type of metal. Gonna try it though! Yay!!!
