I've had this forever and it works well.
You can use the spot cleaner attachment for your carpet cleaner to clean it, then take it outside on a sunny day to let it air out and the UV rays get to the mattress. Get several chairs or some saw horses to have the mattress off the ground in order to let the air circulate around the mattress. The UV rays help alot but you may have to air it out several days. For future reference, when my son was little, I kept the plastic on the mattress that it was shipped in and just put a rubber backed mattress pad on top of that. When he was potty trained, I took off the plastic and just kept the rubber backed mattress pad on it.
Product called "Spot Shot". I have bought it at Ace Hardware Stores as well as Wal Mart. It is in the cleaning aisle.
Take mattress outside & set on end on blocks or a plastic pallet if you have or can get one. Spray mattress with scrubbing bubbles, let set about 10 minutes. Next spray whole mattress side with spray & Wash or Rug Doctor for stain removal. Let that stand for about 15 minutes. Then with a pressure nozzle, WASH OUT your mattress side, edges & ends.
Flip it around & repeat. This will remove all the urine & smell that has penetrated thru the layers of padding on your mattress.
Not only does this clean out urine & stains. It also gets rid of dust mites & dead skin cells & rejuvenates mattress like you wouldn't believe!
KEY here is to let mattress completely dry. If you follow these directions & make sure to let it completely dry, there will be no problems with it & your mattress will last year's longer.
I wash my Own out at least every year to year & a half. Last time I bought a mattress was in 2004, that was 14 yrs ago. I'm not replacing a 20 mattress every 8 years, absolutely no need to when I can renew them this way, it's a waste of good hard earned money.
Stains, smell, dead skin & dust mites be gone!!!
